What a personalized coordinate map shows

A personalized coordinate map is an engraved wooden sign that shows a specific location as a map section and lists the corresponding coordinates. Depending on the design, it may also include the place name, a date, and the recipients’ names. The map is created as a fine line drawing, which is laser-engraved into the wood. It always represents a place with personal significance: the wedding venue, the first home shared by the couple, or the place where the marriage proposal took place.

The locations most often chosen are the wedding venue, the couple’s first shared home, and the place where the proposal took place. What matters is not how well-known the location is, but its connection to the recipients. For couples, there is the coordinate map as a wedding gift; for a new home, the version as a housewarming gift with the family name. For a topping-out ceremony, the address of the new building can also be engraved on a coordinate plaque.

Personalization

Enter coordinates correctly

You can copy the coordinates directly from a map application; we’ll use them in the format shown in the order field. It’s best to check the sequence of numbers one more time, because an engraving that has been applied cannot be corrected. In addition to the coordinates, you usually enter the place name and a date. You can see how many lines a model accommodates and which fonts are available in the configuration on the product page.

Variants

From wall signs to coasters

Most coordinate maps are made of wood and are hung or displayed. Smaller and more practical for everyday use are the slate coasters with engraved coordinates, which bring the same motif to table size. If the sign is to hang by the front door rather than on the wall, our family signs with names and addresses are also a good fit. This allows the coordinate map and door sign to be coordinated in terms of lettering and material. Which option makes the most sense depends primarily on whether the location is meant to be displayed visibly on the wall or used in everyday life.

Manufacturing & Care

Fine-line engraving takes more time

Map lines are significantly finer than lettering, so the laser runs more slowly than for a simple name engraving. The specific production time is listed on each product page and is already factored in there. Each coordinate map is made to order after you place your order. Do not hang the sign directly above a heater or in a persistently damp bathroom, so the wood remains dimensionally stable. A dry cloth is sufficient for cleaning.

Am 09.06.26 bin ich über die Seite von Laser Art gestolpert auf der Suche nach einem Hopchzeitsgeschenk für meinen Enkel. Nach gründlichem durchstöbern der Webseite habe ich mich für ein Schneidebrett entschieden und sogleich die Bestellung gemacht.
